con-TEXT RESIDENCIES - AN INVITATION TO A PRESENTATION OF NEW WORK
Heriot Watt University, School of Textiles, Galashiels - FREE EVENT
You are invited to attend a presentation of new work produced by the 5 con-TEXT residents - and to hear more about their experience and how this has contributed to their individual creative practice. It promises to be a really interesting session and will also give you the opportunity to meet with other practitioners and creative professionals from across the South of Scotland.
con-TEXT is a programme which has offered designer makers from the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway opportunities to expand their ideas, explore technology and develop innovative products through residencies at Heriot Watt University's School of Textiles and Design in Galashiels. The initiative is being funded through Creative Scotland's ambitious 'Creative Futures' programme which is designed to promote the professional development, vision and connectivity and ambitions of Scotland's creative practitioners and organisations. It is the largest co-ordinated residency programme in Europe, and is open to single discipline, interdisciplinary, cross sectoral and international working. Residencies have been offered on a competitive basis through con-TEXT, which is being co-ordinated by CABN as part of a wider programme to support and develop creative businesses across both regions. A final residency is due to take place at the Dept. of SMART Textiles, University of Boras, Sweden between March and May 2012.
The 5 artists/designer/makers who have been awarded con-TEXT residencies at Heriot Watt are:
From Dumfries and Galloway: Lisa Gallacher, Naomi Lethbridge, Alice Francis
From Scottish Borders: Mirjam Van Beek, Liz Douglas
