Youth unemployment and why we should care about it

Since April last year, I have been involved in what I personally feel would be an excellent idea to motivate young people, bring out their perhaps hidden passion for the arts sector, and make them aware of potential opportunities in the creative industries. But in order to develop the project and give it a much-needed international framework, I had to dig a bit deeper and become more familiar with a very serious issue that currently affects a lot of young people: unemployment. Looking back at…See More

About Me
Hi everyone!

I’m Cristina and I am on this year’s Creative Futures International Fellowship. This means that I’m taking a one-year placement with Creative Scotland, but will also get the chance to familiarise myself with other Scottish cultural bodies and agencies.
A little bit about myself: I initially trained as a translator/interpreter for German and English, but my heart has always been in the arts. I first entered this world as a student while volunteering for the International Theatre Festival in my hometown, Sibiu, Romania – which became a European Capital of Culture in 2007, a year before Liverpool.
I’ve been lucky to experience more culture and different artforms in different parts of Europe ever since. My first time round in Scotland was memorable – I spent seven amazing months in Edinburgh taking an internship with the National Museums of Scotland and doing research for my master’s degree. And I just had to come back!

So here I am…

I hope to hear/read your stories soon.

My Fellowship so far

In late February when I returned to Edinburgh I was promised an exciting journey, and I haven’t been let down. I’ve always believed that the best way to hear a good story (and there are a lot of good stories out there) has to come from the storytellers themselves. I’ve been busy exploring these stories for the past few months.

The Glasgow Film Theatre and their lovely Glasgow Film Festival team gave me a warm welcome in May. They provided me with a wealth of information about…

Hello Christina, I'd love to know more about the International Fellowship you are taking part in - and any similarities or differences between the arts in Scotland & Transylvania for that matter.

Would love to read a blog by you when you have time.

Genny.

Hello Christina,

Nice to meet you. It would be great if you could maybe introduce yourself to everyone on the network - there is a discussion just here for you to do just that or maybe you'd like to offer some feedback.

If you need help with anything please just yell.
